NorthTec acknowledges that the region's high schools require active, practical and informed relationships with the polytechnic if tertiary study opportunities for high school leavers in Northland are to be nurtured for those people who wish to remain in Northland for tertiary study.
We have several programmes and relationships in place:
- Student for a Day - The Student for a Day programme provides opportunity for secondary school students to find out what they want to study prior to becoming a student at NorthTec.
- STAR/Gateway/Pathways is a nationwide programme funded by the government. It's specific aim is to prepare senior high school students for either the workforce or further training in a chosen field, or tertiary study in its many different forms, including Modern Apprenticeships.
- Education Northland - This group consists of representatives from Northland institutions who work together to promote the region as a study destination to international students.
- First Year Fees Free - Learn about this NorthTec scholarship available to Northland school leavers.
