Overview Te Pökaitahi Ngäpuhi-Nui-Tonu is an introductory intensive Te Reo me Tikanga o Ngäpuhi-Nui-Tonu course that focuses on key aspects of language skills, that includes waiata, history, tikanga marae, whakapapa and basic conversational Mäori.
Content Graduates will be able to:
- Participate in basic conversations in te reo Mäori, one on one or in small groups
- Demonstrate basic written and oral language skills
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of tikanga and marae kaupapa of Ngäpuhi-Nui-Tonu
- Participate in basic Ngäpuhi-Nui-Tonu waiata
- Discuss basic history knowledge of Ngäpuhi-Nui-Tonu
- Develop values such as manaakitanga (hospitality and care of people), whanaungatanga (being able to assist and relate to others through a common bond) and tu tangata (personal confidence).

Further Study
Admission Information Applicants must be 16 years of age or older at the time of enrolment, unless approved otherwise by the Programme Leader.
Students must be able to demonstrate evidence of suitability based on interview and/or portfolio.
Applicants for whom English is not their first language require a minimum IELTS score of 5.5
