Today, health and safety certification is a pre-requisite for many tradespeople and contractors working on major industrial and construction sites. Safetrades North was set up in 2005 by the Northland Training Alliance, a body comprising local industries in conjunction with Northtec,  to train and upskill local tradespeople in safe work practices.
