Overview
A hands-on project based course aiming to give students an introduction to fabrication/welding.
Content
Graduates will be able to weld using varied methods:
- Gas metal and arc welding (MIG/MAG)
- Tungsten arc welding
- Plasma and gas cutting
- Metal fabrication
Papers offered include:
- Develop fabrication patterns
- Manufacture jigs for fabrication
- Demonstrate knowledge of metal cutting and gouging processes
- Cut metals using manual thermal processes
- Weld steel structures using the manual metal arc welding process
- Weld steel using the manual arc welding process
- Gouge steel using carbon arc process
Admission Information
Applicants must be 16 years of age or older at the time of enrolment, unless approved otherwise.
Applicants must reasonably expect to be able to achieve the standards required for successful completion of the programme or course.
Applicants for whom English is not their first language require a minimum IELTS score of 5.5.
Qualification Gained:
65 credits towards National Certificate Fabrication Level 4
Opportunity for welding certificates will be made available for students with demonstrated ability (extra cost).
