THE IELTS examination (The International Examination Testing System) is a qualification that is accepted worldwide. It can help you enter a university in another country, get a better job or even immigrate to an English-speaking country.
At NorthTec, we help international students prepare for the IELTS examination and also provide assistance with the application process.
2012 IELTS Schedule
Start date 19 March-finish 8 June (11 week course)
Pre IELTS test: Monday 12 March from 9.00am to 12.00pm in Room C270 at the Raumanga Campus, Whangarei.
IELTS Examination Preparation
This is an intensive, full-time programme, which prepares you to sit the Academic and General IELTS examinations.
At NorthTec we run 12 week courses twice a year. At the end of the course, you sit the IELTS examination. You will have your results back in time to go to a university or polytechnic the next semester.
You can choose from full time or part time study.
The IELTS examination is used to test English for entry into most academic courses at tertiary institutions in New Zealand. The IELTS score required for each academic course is different, depending on the level you wish to study (i.e. Certificate, Diploma, Degree) and the institution where you intend to study. The programme focuses on:
- Developing academic reading, writing, speaking and listening skills
- Enhancing grammar accuracy
- Furthering vocabulary appropriate for tertiary study
- Introducing strategies for sitting the IELTS examinations
