Activities
Northland has a glorious coastline and beautiful green countryside. There are lots of opportunities for outdoor activities, including scuba diving, sailing, surfing, fishing, golfing, kayaking and sight seeing.

NorthTec is close to the beautiful Tutukaka Coast, which offers world class scuba diving in the Poor Knights Islands Marine Reserve. Other major tourist attractions in Northland include the Bay of Islands, Cape Reinga and Waipoua Forest which has one of the largest trees in the world, the kauri tree called Tane Mahuta. Whangarei is also only two hours drive from Auckland.

The Tourist Information Centre is just five minutes walk from our campus and it has information about how you can book trips such as a Cape Reinga visit or Swimming with the Dolphins. You can go on a relaxed Hole-in-the-Rock cruise or a fast-paced Excitor speedboat ride in the Bay of Islands. The friendly team there can help you to make bookings for excursions, accommodation and transport.

There are also opportunities for you to join sports clubs and try other activities such as horse riding, surfing, fishing and sailing.
