Overview To prepare students to work as a member of a team on hunting and pest control projects.
Content Graduates will be able to:
- Identify common native and introduced flora and fauna
- Work safely and effectively in the conservation estate
- Demonstrate an ability to navigate using maps and compass, and GPS
- Demonstrate knowledge and techniques necessary to complete an
extended expedition into remote bush
- Demonstrate some practical experience in pest control through
shooting and using traps and poisons
- Work in a safe and effective manner as part of a hunting or pest
management team
- Demonstrate good work habits including time management and basic
problem solving, communication and recording skills
- Demonstrate knowledge of the social, cultural, legislative and economic dimensions of a career in hunting and pest control.

Further Study Options
Admission Information Entry is open but a high level of personal fitness and maturity will be needed to cope with the demands of the programme. You will be required to attend an interview prior to acceptance onto the programme. During the interview you will need to demonstrate that you are a fit and proper person to hold cyanide poison handlers certification. It is desirable for you to have or obtain a firearm license.
Applicants for whom English is not their first language require a minimum IELTS score of 5.5.
