Overview
To provide students with the skills and knowledge to work with clients who have mental health and addictions needs.


Content
Graduates of this programme are able to:

  • Apply a range of skills that are supported by an understanding of the theories and interventions used in mental health and addiction fields of practice
  • Provide safe, basic support in a culturally safe and appropriate manner
  • Acquire a range of interpersonal skills to use with their clients and other health professionals
  • Recognise safe boundaries, self-care and benefits of supervision.

Further Study

Admission Information
Applicants under the age of 20 years by January 1st of the year of study must have achieved Level 2 NCEA.


Mature students (20 years and older) must demonstrate ability to achieve the standards required for successful completion of the programme.


Applicants for whom English is not their first language require a minimum IELTS score of 5.5.
