Overview
Graduates of the Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (Level 7) will have an understanding of cognitive behavioural therapy, the theories that underpin its relevance and application for depression and anxiety. They will have the knowledge, confidence and skills to use the cognitive behavioural therapy principles and techniques with their clients to greatly enhance their practice and therefore the service that they provide.
Content
Theory and application of cognitive behavioural therapy principles; theory and therapy of depression and anxiety; professional and ethical guidelines; theory and application of cognitive behavioural therapy treatment techniques; working with schema-driven problems.
Career Options
Mental health practitioners with cognitive behavioural therapy skills work in a variety of settings and are equipped to work with clients with a variety of issues.
Employment outcomes include enhanced opportunities in health, social work, justice, education and counselling fields.
Admission Information
Admission criteria includes that the applicant:
- Possess a professional qualification, e.g. RN (or equivalent qualification), Occupational Therapy, Social Service, Counselling or Medicine
- Have a minimum of one year post qualification clinical experience;
- Be currently practicing.
Applicants will be interviewed and required to provide additional information.
Applicants for whom English is not their first language must achieve an IELTS score of 6.5.
