It doesn’t matter whether you are working with clay, glass, paint or pixels,  if you’re looking for a supportive creative environment that will equip and enable you to explore new ideas and a variety of media, Northtec has a great deal to offer.   

Small classes, highly skilled tutors and individual attention create a very nurturing community here.  But don’t expect it to be all warm-fuzzies and pats on the back.   This is an environment that also encourages you to challenge your thinking and your attitudes. 

As working artists, our tutors maintain very close ties with their artistic communities and creative industries, and they understand the reality of making a living within them.  As a student here you will reap the rewards those connections offer.  Many of our students begin working in their field while still completing their courses here.  Others go on to develop as self-employed artists, working locally, or making a global stand from right here in Northland. 

These courses can take you as far as you want to go.  It’s up to you to decide where that might be - from a shed in your own back yard to the art centres of the world.
