To develop students with knowledge of conservation values and conservation processes while engaged in practical projects that protect and enhance the environment. | Content
Graduates will be able to:
- Describe some of the historic and recent human impact on New Zealand’s unique biodiversity
- Identify common native and introduced flora and fauna
- Work safely in an outdoor environment
- Demonstrate the knowledge and techniques necessary to complete an overnight expedition in the bush and navigate and handle different small craft in protected waters
- Demonstrate rope handling skills commonly used in a range of outdoor pursuits
- Demonstrate some practical experience in field conservation techniques including ecosystem restoration
- Work productively as part of a team
- Demonstrate study and work habits that include competent directed study, basic problem solving, communication and presentation skills
- State a career goal and list the requirements to meet it.
