Answers to frequently asked questions about the SafeTrades North programmes

 

Q.  What is the Certificate in Applied Work Practices? 
A. Core and elective Health and Safety competency for workplace compliance.
 
Q.  How many NZQA Credits are required to fulfil the Certificate in Applied Work Practices?
A.  50 credits are required with 40 credits at level 3. 
 
Q.  How long will it take to fulfil the Certificate in Applied Work Practices?
A. Varies however upon enrolment all credits must be completed within 3 years. 
 
Q.  Can previous Credits be recognised? 
A. Yes up to 25 credits can be cross credited.
 
Q.  How much do the training courses cost? 
A.  Currently courses are $72.00 plus gst per day as long as the trainee has registered, provided verification of New Zealand citizenship and enrolled for the Certificate in Applied Work Practices.

 

Q.  How do I enrol for Certificate in Applied Work Practices?

Q.  Why do employees need to formally provide a birth certificate or a NZ Passport for enrolment purposes? 
A.  To obtain government funding for training which applies only to NZ residents.

 

Q.  What involvement does NorthTec & SafeTrades North have with this industry training programme?
A.   NorthTec & SafeTrades North are the approved and accredited provider of workplace training and assessment to NZQA Unit Standards.

 

Q. What other qualifications can I get?
A. If you have completed the NorthTec Certificate in Applied Work Practice (Level 3) you may also meet the requirements to be awarded the National Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health - Workplace Safety (Level 3). You will need to have chosen your electives so that you have 40 credits of level 3 or above.
